After completing a bachelor of engineering degree at the University of Canterbury, Hamish has held various leadership roles in the engineering and construction industry throughout NZ, Australia and the UK. Over the past 10 years he has specialised in Commercial and Industrial structural steel projects, holding project management positions on some of NZ’s most high profile development projects. He was appointed General Manager of BDX Group in 2020 before becoming Managing Director in 2021.
Managing Director
Tony’s career started out in sawmilling operations before exiting the industry with the sale of TDC Sawmills to Carter Holt Harvey in late 2006. Since then Tony and his wife Clare, have been involved with multiple land development projects in the Whangarei region including Kotata Heights subdivision and the highly anticipated Port Nikau – currently under development. Tony sits as a non-executive director on the board of BDX, bringing a wealth of business knowledge and leadership to the business.

Clare’s early experience was in the commercial accounting and corporate finance sector, before embarking on a 12 year journey in the sawmilling industry with the co-ownership and management of TDC Sawmills alongside her husband Tony. She is now heavily involved with various land holding and land development entities in the Whangarei region with Tony and their 3 sons. Clare sits as a non-executive director on the board of BDX, bringing extensive financial oversight and corporate governance to the business.
DIRECTOR
Diane has over 30 years experience in the administration, accounting and finance industry. Her career has spanned through NZ, Australia and the United States, before settling back in Northland and taking a role with BDX Group as Company Accountant. She has extensive knowledge of all things corporate finance related.
Company Accountant
Andy completed a trade certificate in heavy fabrication in 2006 before embarking on a career spanning more than 15 years in the engineering industry. He has gained experience on some of the largest mining sites in Western Australia before returning to Northland in 2017. He is a natural leader with a wealth of experience and industry knowledge which has seen him quickly progress through supervision roles at BDX before being appointed as Engineering Operations Manager in 2023.
Operations Manager
Aaron is a qualified mechanical engineer with over 15 years industry experience in engineering and project management roles working for some of NZ’s leading production and process engineering companies. He heads up the project management division at BDX Engineering bringing a wealth of industry experience which now canvases structural steel, seismic strengthening, materials handling and processing facilities.
Project Manager
BDX Engineering’s resident perfectionist. Starting out as a trade qualified Fitter & Turner, brad has amassed 15 years industry experience working throughout New Zealand and within the Australian mining industry. He has held leadership roles with some of the world’s most significant mining industry operations including Thiess Industrial Projects and BHP Billiton. Brad quickly progressed to a supervisor role at BDX through his natural leadership attributes and significant industry experience.
Project Supervisor
Mike holds a trade qualification in heavy fabrication and has clocked up more than 15 years industry experience in the engineering field. He has extensive knowledge in a wide range of engineering related applications including plant maintenance, machine guarding, mechanical fitting and heavy fabrication. Mike is one of BDX Engineering’s longest standing employees and also holds a position on our health and safety committee
Project Supervisor
A Journyman Ironworker with over 20 years’ experience in structural steel erection, fabrication and welding. With a significant portion of Dylan’s career working in the United States ironworkers trade, Dylan is BDX Engineering’s most experienced operator. Dylan has a natural aptitude when it comes to solving complex and challenging engineering projects. He was recently appointed a project supervisor at BDX and is now gaining knowledge with mechanical design and Solid Works modelling.

Harvey has amassed 20 years industry experience as a trade qualified heavy fabricator. Through 15 years industry experience in the heavily regulated oil and gas sector, Harvey has a thorough understanding of QA processes and compliance in welding and fabrication. His knowledge canvases piping, structural steel and general engineering. Harvey runs our workshop ensuring that our projects are delivered to the highest quality. He is an excellent mentor for the numerous apprentices that are in training at BDX . Harvey is our welding supervisor holding the AS/NZS 2214 qualification.
Workshop Manager and Welding Supervisor
Les takes care of our stores and procurement department. He is responsible for ensuring supplier relationships are well managed and that our operational team is well supported and resourced with the necessary tools, equipment and consumables.
